WellLynx XI
Overview
WellLynx XI introduces satellite communications to the
WellLynx family of devices. WellLynx XI utilizes the Iridium satellite network which
delivers true global coverage. Iridium's network, combined with WellLynx XI's capabilities
provides remote data collection, report-by-exception alarming, increasing I/O count,
and intelligent I/O, which delivers a powerful array of features particularly suited
to the oil and gas industry.
It is a robust and economical solution that is specifically
designed to provide a window into the remote well site. In addition to providing
data from remote meters, PLC's, RTU's etc., it increases the I/O capabilities of
the terminal device. It is also a true report-by-exception device with alarm capabilities
on analog inputs as well as discretes. WellLynx XI can monitor flow computers, compressors,
pipelines, tanks, and more when used in conjunction with SCADALynx.
Modes of Operation
Data Collection
WellLynx XI can be configured to acquire data from the remote
terminal device. WellLynx XI supports Modbus RTU and Modbus ASCII protocols.
Spot data updates are collected from the meter on a scheduled basis, typically
at one to two hour intervals. In the same manner historical or archive data is
collected usually on a daily basis.
Additional I/O
Today's flow computers have little, and in many cases, no I/O. Some have expansion
capabilities, but the add-on options themselves are often less than adequate and
always costly. WellLynx XI solves this dilemma with its ample on-board I/O, comprised
of four analog inputs, four discrete inputs, and two configurable D/I's or D/O's.
The I/O capabilities of the device function independently of any configured data
collection. Data values and discrete levels associated with the external I/O are
made available as register values and collected using standard Modbus RTU requests.
Configuration of the A/I’s or D/I’s as alarm points activates the instantaneous
alarming features of WellLynx XI.
Report-by-Exception
WellLynx XI utilizes the robust Iridium satellite network to report alarm
conditions. Discrete input changes as well as alarm threshold limits are
instantly forwarded to the eLynx data center where the device ID and
corresponding customer location is identified. The customer configured alarm
message is then forwarded to all recipients in the notification list. At the
same time, the web interface is updated to reflect the data and/or discrete
change. The entire process typically takes 1-2 minutes.
