eLynx signs deal with Gunnison Energy Corporation

(Denver, Colo.) "Tulsa-based eLynx Technologies announced today it has obtained Gunnison Energy Corporation (GEC) as a client for its Denver office. eLynx created a customized well monitoring system for the company, which has acquired oil and natural gas leases in excess of 100,000 net acres throughout Colorado.

"With eLynx, we are now able to monitor production much more closely, allowing us to make the best use of our personnel," said Phil Nicoll, energy manager for GEC. "We were previously relying on field personnel to report data once per day."

As oil and gas is extracted from the ground, a large amount of salty, unusable water comes out with it. The speed at which these elements are extracted is referred to as the flow rate, and often times, this salty water is injected back into the ground.

eLynx created a customized system that monitors natural gas and water production data using Fisher ROC electronic flow meters. The data is then sent remotely by satellite from wells located in Gunnison County, Colo., to a centralized data center hosted by eLynx. Production data is immediately made accessible via the Internet for company personnel to access, allowing them to remotely evaluate the success and efficiency of their wells.

"The method eLynx uses to capture well data is different than anyone else in the industry," said Jason Rohlfing, business development manager for the Rockies division. "Every company's situation is unique, so we evaluate what the customer wants and find a way to give it to them. As a result, everything we do is new in some way."

The need for geographically remote reporting solutions in the oil and gas industry is increasing as companies realize the benefits of technology. Rather than spending hours checking locations manually, producers are now able to focus their time and attention on ensuring wells and pipelines are operating at peak performance.

Rohlfing notes geographically remote locations such as Gunnison often benefit most. "I'm loving it," said Al Arsenault, a field operator for GEC. "I no longer have to drive an additional 50 miles to check if my well went down. All I have to do is log on the Internet."

Since 2000, eLynx Technologies has provided real-time data collection, production reporting, trending, well monitoring and control via the Internet for the oil and gas industry. The company services more than 215 exploration and production companies and operates in more than 20 states. Headquartered in Tulsa, eLynx also has support offices in Denver, Houston, Dallas, Oklahoma City and Carthage, Texas.
